So keep reading below to find out how aromatherapy can help you achieve your health goals.

What is Aromatherapy?

The art of the smelling sense has been a therapy for many years.  Aromatherapy uses complex aromatic compounds derived from plant materials to be either consumed, topically applied or inhaled to gain natural therapeutic effects within food preparation, alternative health-care practices, beauty treatments and self care. Aromatherapy aims to help balance the body physically and psychologically through triggering brain-chemical responses (AKA stimulatin of the nervous system response).

How do natural oils effect the body?

The essential oils tap into the limbic system AKA the emotional brain. The limbic system is stimulated by the five senses and can effect many elements of your day to day functions such as heart rate, memory, stress levels, hormonal balance and breathing. The art of smelling through the olfactory system involves many of the physical organs such as the lungs and respiratory system entering the system in multiple ways. Based on this interaction, research has found that by smelling essential oils this can have a physical and emotional effect on the body. Because you can also consume oils, based on the gut-brain axis, the natural oils will also have an effect on the emotional brain through gut health, providing a sense of empowerment through the boosting of positive emotions.

What are your experiences with aromatherapy?

Personally I love using many oils for different reasons. When I need a pick me up I use DoTerra's wonderful Elevate blend to get me through the day with an abundance of energy. When wanting to go to sleep, I love using the Aromapatch's (specifically the sleep or lavender) to aid in a deep undisturbed sleep. When I am feeling anxious or stressed, using the Lavender patch from Aromapatch truly helps calm the nerves.

Can you use aromatherapy in conjunction with other health care?

YES YES YES! As an alternative healthcare practitioner, we promote the integration of multiple health care practices into the one treatment. For an example, I commonly use lavender and wild orange in the treatment room to help promote relaxation whilst getting acupuncture.

Who can use aromatherapy and the aromapatches?

Pretty much anyone and everyone! Children, the elderly, students, teenagers, I truly mean anyone!
